History Kinect Australia operates as a not for profit, incorporated association. The organisation has developed from the Victoria Council on Fitness and General Health (VICFIT) which was established in 1982 by the Victorian State Ministers for Health and Youth, Sport and Recreation. In 2005, the Kinect Australia brand and expanded orientation was adopted to further facilitate the provision of support for active living on a national basis whilst still maintaining strong involvement in Victoria.
Kinect Australia (VICFIT) has operated in direct or close association with State and Commonwealth Governments since its inception and is primarily funded by government to develop and deliver significant initiatives.
