The Australian Health Coaching Network
The Australian "Health Coaching Network" seeks to provide support for individual health professionals, program managers and organisations as well as to influence the broader development of health coaching in Australia.The need for a support network was identified through a series of discussion forums with health professionals and stakeholder organisations. Limited on-going support for health coaching as well as opportunities for professional development following initial training have prompted the development of the network.
Kinect Australia is facilitating the development of the Health Coaching Network with support from Health Coaching Australia (HCA). Health Coaching Australia provides professional training and Kinect Australia coordinates key initiatives to promote active and healthy living.
Aims of the Australian Health Coaching Network
- To support health professionals and their organisations to integrate health coaching into their daily practice.
- To assist in the delivery of quality health coaching services and the maintenance of quality improvement processes and ongoing professional development.
- To enhance the profile of health coaching and health coaches to increase community awareness of the benefits of health coaching, across all lifestyle issues.
The Australian Health Coaching Network will:
- Provide a range of development opportunities for those utilising health coaching via face-to-face and electronic mediums;
- Be underpinned by an interactive site located on the Kinect Australia website.
The benefits of joining the Health Coaching Network:
- Access to an interactive knowledge sharing network;
- Access to professional development support through information, case studies, research/articles;
- Increased advocacy support for health coaching;
- Enhanced networking opportunities through regular forums & meetings.
