Continuing Development for Allied Health Professionals- Free online training and resources Since 2007, the Department of Human Services has supported a Statewide Allied Health Workforce Education Program (SAHWEP). SAHWEP seeks to support the continuing professional development needs of Victoria's allied health workforce and is part of a suite of initiatives being implemented by the Department to improve the recruitment and retention of the allied health workforce, particularly in rural areas. SAHWEP is delivered on behalf of the Department of Human Services by Greater Green Triangle University Department of Rural Health (www.greaterhealth.org).

Preventing Chronic Disease- Open Access

From the (U.S.) Center for Disease Control, this issue (July 2009) of Preventing Chronic Disease looks at a multilevel obesity model. Behavioral economics suggests that powerful biological and contextual forces are a barrier to following the usual recommendations of diet and exercise difficult for the individual. Contributors to this issue frame obesity as a complex system in which behavior is affected by multiple individual-level factors and socio-environmental factors (ie, factors related to the food, physical, cultural, or economic environment that enable or constrain human behavior).
